Hanging on…

So after watching So You Think You Can Dance yesterday, I have been listening to ‘Hanging on’ by Active Child alot. It had me thinking though… when do we really know to let go and when do we keep hanging on?
A relationship is on the rocks and you have to make a decision, do you continue to fight a battle constantly lost? Do you just decide that enough is enough?
There are some things that I would consider. Things like is he fighting just as hard as I am? Does he love me? Do I love him? Am I doing this because I believe it can work? Or am I just afraid of what will happen when it doesn’t?
Every relationship has its own struggles, some harder than others, but it is up to you and your partner to decide that this is worth it. If its bigger than you think, seek outside help. Therapy is not for the mentally insane or the weak, its for people who are brave enough to realize they need help.
If the relationship means that much to you, you will fight. Sometimes its hard to know when enough is enough, but it will come. Just ensure that in all the struggles, you are able to look at that person and love them, just as they are able to do to u. A relationship isn’t a one woman or one man show, so don’t hold on because you don’t like to fail, or because he/she loves you. You do no one any favours by piting them. Remember that.
Anywho, that was just my little bit, I hope I haven’t offended anyone, just in the mood to write about something. Also, I wasn’t really prepared so it may not be perfect.

Sitting here in pain, I wonder, have I lost my purpose and vision?
I sit and I think of the Lord and all his amazing glories, all the blessings he bestows upon me everyday and I know I am not doing enough. It is time to stop making promises that are never kept. It is time to stand up and make a difference. What has stopped me? Why have I lost track?
We all get distracted from the important things in life, we get so caught up in our issues and the issues of others that we forget to live. I need to find joy in all this sorrow, I need to find peace in all this animosity.
God promises our all the fine things in life if we trust in Him and follow His words. The finer things may not be jewelry, a big fancy house or a sports car. The finer things are joy, peace, hope, grace, love. He gives us something that we are unable to find in sex, drugs and lies. He gives us something all the nights in club could never. He gives us something that money will not be able to come close to.
The question is, will we accept it? Will I accept it? Will I be able to just be and breathe with God? I honestly just want to let go and let God.
These are my words, these are different from my usual blogs. I will make it a point of duty to write about this every week.
Wish me luck and faith.
“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”

Day of firsts…

So today we went to Frenchman’s Cove for my boyfriend’s birthday. I had a great time, it was my first time driving to country without like ‘adult’ supervision, it was also my first time at Frenchman’s Cove.
It is a very beautiful place to be. The water is warm, its small and quiet and windy. I had a great time with the love of my life and his friends and of course, MY girlies loool.
On the ride home, it was rather dark and I started to notice that though I was breathing, I was holding my breath. I was soooo nervous but we got home safely by the Grace of God and the good teachings the drivers got to prepare them.
Upon coming home, I have gotten to realize that when I am away from familiar environments, I am able to relax and just live. As soon as I got home, the anxiety and pressure just fell upon my like a brick waiting for its place.
It’s honestly not a great feeling, it is so overwhelming I am close to tears. But with each breath I take, I remind myself of the great time I had today and that such peacefulness should be able to travel with a person. The joys of being around fun people, should stay with you even when alone. We should be able to be with ourselves who we are with other people. So with each word I type, I feel my muscles loosen and the rhythm of my heart no longer quickens.
Life is an amazing gift that we should not waste thinking about things that aren’t there. We shouldn’t waste it dwelling on the horrible things that may have happened. Residual feelings have a tendency to be dormant and then they rise when you wish most that they would disappear.
I am not ok, but I am not bad and for that, I give thanks!

»»»That someone, That something««««

Everyone has that someone or something that they feel they lost, that they can never get back, or make right. Living life in regrets is like walking on a treadmill, you go nowhere.
I know how it feels to want to make things right but it doesn’t seem to work. Honestly, when things go wrong, I always blame myself, even when logically, I know I wasn’t wrong. But I always feel as if I could have done more.
I find that I am more focused on other people than myself. There are a few persons that I no longer talk to, and though I talk a good talk of telling everyone that I don’t give a damn, there isn’t a day that passes and I don’t think to ask these persons how they are doing.
In fact, I have done it on most occasions. What I have found though, is that if people want to talk to you, they will talk to you. People take advantage of those who they see care a lot. So yes, I have stopped trying to make things better. Because if a simple ‘Good Night’ is hard to choke out, then I don’t want to ask you how you have been doing.
It’s not easy, trust me. I still feel guilty and as if I need to do more, as if I can repair the friendship that has been lost. But the truth is that, I can’t. Why? Because they don’t want to, and you can’t force people to care. You can’t control the feelings and actions of other people. I have to remind myself of this everyday.
I have to remind myself that I did my best and I won’t stand for less from anyone else. If I care enough to try very hard, then why can’t you?
Yes, I wasn’t very specific as to the relationships I am referring to, and honestly, it is because it is because of the dissonance I feel about this situation. It is hard for me to fully indulge, because I still fear being judged.
So remind yourself of this, you deserve the best.

*** Love for comfort ***

They say when you fall in love, your life is both simple and utterly complicated. I believe this statement, because when you love someone, everything changes yet it still remains the same. You are able to be yourself with this person, express your true feelings without fear of judgement and you are able to allow them to love you.
It is complicated because when you allow yourself to love and care for someone, you give them a knife trusting them not to stab you. Love is trust, hope, faith and peace. Love means tears and smiles, arguments and joking around.
It is a great feeling when the one you love intimately is able to be your friend; he/she is able to give you advice, joke with you and get angry with you. It’s not just the gentle kisses or the burning passion, it is a relationship of both body and mind.
Many persons don’t believe in this kind of love, and why should we blame them really? I didn’t believe, and sometimes I find myself wondering. But I know its real because when we argue, it hurts. When we kiss, its home. Nothing is perfect, and I find that I have to be drilling that into my mind. To strive for perfect is wasted energy in my opinion, we are not perfect beings, we are far from it. The things we create have flaws just as we do. But that’s the greatest thing about us, that we are able to make mistakes and learn from them. That we are able to feel, to learn and to grow.
I constantly say, never settle for less than you are worth, that’s something I believe.
Anywho, lol enough with the heavy. I am working on a piece that basically shares my opinion on when is it time to let go or when is it time to start over.

^^ Knowing when to just move on…..

Knowing when to move on, is something we know but are not able to admit. When you have committed yourself to a relationship or friendship; it’s hard to believe that it is simply over. It is have to comprehend that, it is not worth saving. But how do we really know when it’s time to move on, and when is it simply time to start over, make things right? I won’t pretend to know when to do this; I won’t behave as if I have all the answers because I don’t. Everyone’s relationship is different; everyone’s feeling for someone is different. However, no one deserves to have their hearts broken everyday by the same person. When I say broken, don’t assume I just mean a boyfriend or a girlfriend, because friends have the capacity to break our hearts too, because we care for them.
He/she hurts you more than he/she shows he loves you: Sometimes people don’t really mean us any good. They are there to get what they want and move on. Think of a friend who only wants something from you, or a boyfriend who never ceases to humiliate and disrespect you; are they good for you?  I am absolutely obsessed with this song ‘Hanging on’, and in it there’s a line that days ‘Every day I feel this pain, but you just turn and walk away. I just can’t keep hanging on to you and me’ Sometimes we have to realize that some people just aren’t good for us. I have been through it and it’s not going to help you in the long run.
Are you willing to play the role? : We all have a role that we play in people’s lives, this is a simple truth. Some persons are the fun friend, the friend to talk to about issues, or the friend to shop with and the list goes on. We can accept these roles and play them, or we can refuse to because it’s not enough for us. I was watching Laguna Beach and they were describing guys as purses, that you have that hot purse you want everyone to see you with, and another that you love so you carry everywhere. The sad thing is, people see other people like this; you may just be the person to joke with, have sex with or talk to about important things, but never more. Some people are able to live with this, others don’t want to. You have to decide which you want and then you will know when to move on.
Are you afraid to move on? : You have to ask yourself if it’s worth holding on it, or is it just that you are too afraid to try again. I can say from experience, that I was crippled by the thought of starting over, of finding someone else to love me. It’s not an easy thing to do, but it’s no reason to stay in a bad relationship. I had this boy that I loved for almost a year of my life, he knew just about everything there was to know about me and we had really good times, but I realized that I was holding on, not because I thought it was best but because I feared letting go would be too hard.
You don’t believe you can find someone else: Insecurities have a way of compromising the decisions we make. It can make us do things just because we think it’s what we deserve, or we can never get something better. This is no reason to stay in a relationship that is causing you great pain; you have to realize that you do deserve more.
You don’t think you could ever move on: There is this thing called the ‘Fallacy of Helplessness’ where people make themselves a victim and believe that satisfaction is controlled by forces they are unable to manipulate. They believe that the universe will never give them anything better, and they should just accept what they have. But like I said before, everyone deserves something great, and it doesn’t have to be flashy but it has to be true.
When you keep expecting him/her to change: If someone keeps doing the same thing over and over, and you keep telling them it hurts, at some point you have to realize that they are not going to change. People do what they do because they want to, or they believe they should. You can’t force someone to change; you can only show them why they should. Also, even if they change, who’s to say something else won’t come up, and this person will have to constantly modify who they are to suit you. This goes for you too; that is if he/she expects you to change.
When you keep justifying his/her actions to yourself: Sometimes we have to call a spade a spade and move on. If he is constantly flirting with other girls and texting them, or disappearing with them. There comes a time when you have to stop making excuses. So, no it’s not your fault he hit you, he wasn’t just having a bad day. There’s this thing called cognitive dissonance, and it happens when our belief/value doesn’t match up without actions. It causes us to feel very uncomfortable, and one of the ways to ease that is to justify or rationalize. So you believe he loves you, but he keeps showing you different, so you rationalize and justify. Soon that won’t work anymore; soon the truth will hit you like a speeding bullet.
I was once in a relationship that caused me great pain, I started to realize that I cried way more than I needed to and I had great doubt and fear. He didn’t cheat on me (well not that I know), but I was hurt, I felt less than who I knew I was. I loved him, deeply; but what we had was destructive. I was tolerating things I shouldn’t have, I neglected my own feelings for his and I started to make me resent him.
I spoke to a psychologist once and she told me, ‘Write down the good and bad things about your relationship. But it’s not to see if there are more ‘good’ than ‘bad’, but for you to look at the bad and see if it is worth living with. Is the good, good enough to make up for the bad?’
I read an article that said, “It’s better to identify when a relationship is going nowhere so we can address it accordingly, rather than cling onto it in blind hopes that things will change. If we hold on to relationships that are not meant to be, we can never attract new things into our life. We will forever be living in the past than moving forward into the future.”

This is what the weather does to me

He touched me gently, too gently if you ask me. It’s as if he expects me to break, it’s as if he fears she may break.
I don’t believe I’m brave, in fact I am starting to rethink this. What if we both don’t make it? What if I live? How will I go through each day knowing I lost apart of me, knowing I couldn’t save her?
A little over 8 months ago I found out I was pregnant, and honestly I couldn’t have been happier, it was the best day of my life. But with all good things comes a price, I found out a few months after that I have a terrible disease and that I may die if I give birth to my baby, or she could die, or worse we both die. Now I’ve always had a problem where I expect the worse possible outcome, and can you really blame me in this case? Either way I’m screwed. It’s either I die and she lives or she dies and I live.  Ryan keeps saying that we will have a miracle and we’ll both survive, but I just can’t believe that. the doctor said the odds are very low.
As I sit here looking at my protruding belly, I have so many doubts. Was I stupid to carry this baby to term? Will she change the world? Will she live an amazing life without me because she understands the great sacrifice that was made? Will Ryan be able to love her and raise her on his own?
I want her to know how much I love her. I want her to know my flaws and my strengths, I want her to understand that she doesn’t have to live her life wishing she met me, because I am within her.
When I found out what may happen, I started a journal for her; telling her about some of the best and worst days of my life. I want her to know me, I want her to remember me. I want her to meet me. I don’t think I can do this. I don’t think I am strong enough or brave enough to give birth to this baby.
Everyday I look in his eyes, I know he is counting down just as much as I am. How could I have done this to the man I am suppose to spend the rest of my life with? Does he hate me? Does he understand me? Will he look at her in regret knowing she lived and not me? There are too many thoughts in my head.
I feel a storm rising inside my heart, its breaking down the walls. I have always wanted a baby of my own; someone to love me and look to me for help. I wanted that connection that not even death could sever. But I won’t get that, because I will be dead on the day that she is born. That’s my faith. I am praying for a miracle and that Ryan will be able to forgive me for breaking his heart.
I am exhausted, I am worn. Its hard for me to keep my eyes open. But I see a light, and I hear a whisper, ‘I promise you, I won’t let anything happen to you.’ Like a symphony, his kiss melts into his whisper and I know I’m safe. I know that even if this doesn’t end the way we both hope, that I had support in the form of his love. That God will be there to guide me, and to guide Ryan. That he will be able to do this without me, because he won’t be alone.
